Elton P. "Icebox" Chamberlain (1867-1929) was named Elton, called Ed by his friends, and dubbed Icebox by baseball writers. The nickname was given because of the "ice water" that supposedly flowed through his veins. He pitched in major league baseball for 10 season from 1886 to 1896. He was photographed for this baseball card portrait in the uniform of the St. Louis Browns. Published ca. 1888.
