This portrait of 18 men and boys features members of the Drum Corps, 8th New York State Militia Infantry or "Washington Grays." The 8th New York was one of three regiments that combined to make up the 8th Infantry. The group was photographed in Arlington, Virginia, with many seated on their drums.
