This spectacular view of Zion is framed by the opening of its historic mile-long tunnel. It was carved out of a sandstone cliff in the late 1920s, 800 feet above the bottom of Zion Canyon. On the other side of the tunnel, a pair of visitors have parked at the west entrance of Zion Tunnel to enjoy the view. Note the dog to the left of the scene. This scenic road today is Zion National Park State Route 9 west.
