This photo of Anthony Nocella lifting a 110-pound provolone cheese was taken in 1959 at G. Nardella & Son's shop in the Brooklyn Terminal Market, New York City. This lively market is located on Foster Avenue between East 83rd and East 87th streets. It first opened for business in 1942. The market offers fresh fruits and vegetables, plants and flowers, and a cornucopia of other things from all over the world.
