A spiral galaxy is a galaxy in which its stars and gas clouds are concentrated in one or more spiral arms, as shown in this photograph. Most spiral galaxies contain a flat, rotating galactic disk, which mostly contains, gas, dust, and stars. The central part of the spiral, known as the bulge, contains a larger consolidation of stars.
