Rosy White Thunder is wearing an elk-tooth dress, an unusual costume for a Sioux woman. Her earrings are made of dentalium shells, hand-strung between thin strips of hide. The dentalium shells, home to a Pacific Coast mollusk, would have been obtained at a trading post. Taken ca. 1890, photographer unknown.
