Shown here is one of the many Confederate forts ringing Atlanta during the American Civil War. This Confederate fort was located at the east end of Peachtree Street. The photographer's angle shows cannons, a Confederate lookout, and soldiers in their tent. This photo was taken shortly before the city fell to General Sherman.
