Mollie Juana, Pima, lived on the Salt River Reservation. Pima women usually wore their hair loose, with long bangs cut to shield their eyes from the bright desert sun. Mollie Juana is wearing white clay on her face and hair. The design has no special significance. Photographed ca. 1880 by Henry Buehman.
