The full title of this lithograph was "Life of George Washington--The Farmer." It shows George Washington standing on his land among African-American field workers. They were harvesting grain. In the background you can see Washington's home, Mt. Vernon. This color lithograph was painted by Junius Brutus Steams (1810-1855) and published in Paris, France ca. 1853.
