This beautiful pastoral scene inspired Vincent Willem van Gogh as he gazed out on it in southern France's Provencal region in February 1888. Van Gogh loved this area with the rocky outcrop of Montmajour and the Montmajour abbey, seen in the far distance of this painting. Today the original hangs in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Holland.
