This portrait of Maj. Gen. George B. McClellan (1826-1885) and his wife, Ellen Mary Marcy, was taken ca. 1883. McClellan served as a major general during the American Civil War. He organized the Army of the Potomac in 1861 and served for a short time as general-in-chief of the Union Army.
