This was a typical scene at many country stores on a Sunday afternoon. This store was located on a dirt road in Gordonton, North Carolina. There is a kerosene pump on the right and a Texaco gasoline pump on the left. The storefront is covered with advertising signs, mostly for cigarettes, cola, and whiskey. The porch is held up by stacks of river rocks. Sturdy timber posts support the porch roof. The store owner's brother stands in the doorway. talking to the African American men on the porch.
