This print was made from a painting created in 1895-96 by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901), also known as Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa. He was a French painter, print maker, and illustrator who loved the opera. This scene was inspired by the opera, Chilpéric, and shows Marcelle Lender dancing the bolero. The original hangs in the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.
