Park visitors posed here in front of the Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces. These fascinating travertine sculptures were created over time by an interplay of water flow and mineral deposits from eruptions of the area’s hot springs. About two tons of calcium are deposited each day. Photographed in 1888 by F. Jay Haynes.
