A four-horse stagecoach travels down a lane beside the Firehole River. It was said the scalding overflow waters from the nearby Excelsior Geyser's violent and powerful eruption could raise the river level by as much as 16 inches. The Excelsior Geyser is no longer active. Photographed in 1895 by F. Jay Haynes.
