When the 25-year-old, "citified" Teddy Roosevelt went west for an adventure, no one thought he had the necessary gumption. He outlasted many other "dudes" and stayed on for years at a sagebrush outpost he bought in the Dakota Badlands. He forever cherished his memories of the cowboy world.
