The mysterious depths of the Grand Canyon lured visitors to the rim then as they do now. These women, accompanied by a man who may have been a ranger, wore dresses and hats as they peered over the endless depths of this wondrous gorge. The Grand Canyon in northern Arizona is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. It is 277 miles long with an average depth of one mile. It achieved national park status in 1919.
