Geronimo, famous Chiricahua Apache war leader, became known and feared during more than 10 years of raiding settlements and military outposts. After numerous escapes and evasions, Geronimo was finally captured in 1886. He died of pneumonia in 1909 after more than 20 years of internment, mostly at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
