Tourists stand on an outcropping of rock to view the magnificence of the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. It is an awe-inspiring one-mile deep gorge carved by the Colorado River in northern Arizona. The multi-colored layered bands of red rock show off millions of years of geological history. The canyon averages 10 miles across. It is about 277 miles in length.
