This image was painted by Charles Bird King (1785-1862) for the Indian Tribes of North America series. The lithograph shows Wa-Em-Boesh-Kaa, a Chippeway chief, wearing a fancy headdress. He is wrapped loosely in a blanket and smoking a pipe. Published ca. 1837.
