"The Stagecoach in the Rockies" is a scene straight from the western frontier, showing a stagecoach driving across the prairie toward the faraway Rocky Mountains. It was painted by Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902), an American painter best known for his striking landscapes of the American West. Bierstadt traveled west numerous times during the expansion of the West in order to see it firsthand.
