This color lithograph was made from a commissioned painting of Not-Chi-Mu-Ne, an Ioway (Iowa) chief from what is now the state of Iowa and parts of surrounding states. He was considered a peace chief, although also known as a warrior in younger days. The artist was Alfred M. Hoffy. The lithographer was John T. Bowen, ca.1838.
