This painting by Frederick Edwin Church (1826-1900) was part of a series of paintings he produced featuring the Niagara Falls. In the spray of the waterfall, a rainbow is visible. He completed it in 1867. Some say his Niagara paintings made him the greatest US artist at that time. This is the third in the series Church painted of the Niagara Falls. The original hangs in the Scottish National Gallery today.
