This painting was created by artist Charles Bird King (1785-1862), an American portrait artist who was best known for his portrayals of important Native American leaders. The color lithograph was produced by lithographers around 1837. It features Ma-Has-Kah (White Cloud), an Ioway chief. He is wearing a claw necklace, a portrait medallion on his neck, and earrings and feathers on his head.
