This print was made from a hand-colored lithograph of Ca-Ta-He-Cas-Sa-Black Hoof, first published in 1838. Ca-Ta-He-Cas-Sa-Black Hoof was the principal chief of the Shawanoes, or better known as Shawnees. This American Indian tribe originated in Ohio, but moved to the Indiana and the Midwest beginning in 1794.
