This image shows just a small part of the Orion Nebula, 1,500 light-years away. Orion has been called a "picture book of star formation." The gas plume is a beam of material coming out of a newborn star, moving at 148,000 miles per hour! The Orion Nebula is located in the Milky Way, just south of Orion's Belt in the constellation of Orion. This image was captured with a camera from the Hubble Space Telescope.
