Three women in uniforms, trench coats, and berets are posed by an official automobile with a driver at the ready. The printing on the door includes a number and the words "U.S.A." and "For Official Use Only." The women are members of the Women's Radio Corps, created in 1917 to train female wireless operators. Courses were held at such places as the YMCA and Hunter College in New York. Women learned the trade so that male operators could be used in the war efforts of World War I. Photographed ca. 1919.
