This color print was made to commemorate a scene on the morning of the Fourth of July, 1876, the nation's first centennial celebration. It was called "The Flag That Has Waved Over 100 Years: A scene on the morning of the fourth day of July 1876." It shows the US flag being hoisted in the air in front of the Capitol Building with four adults and a child in attendance. The chromolithograph was created by Dominique C. Fabronius and published in 1876.
