The Orion Nebula is located in the Milky Way, just south of Orion's Belt in the constellation of Orion. This sharp image, taken with a camera from the Hubble Space Telescope, shows more than 3,000 stars of various sizes. The bright light in the center comes from the four largest stars in the nebula (about 100,000 times brighter than the sun), called the Trapezium because they are arranged in the shape of a trapezoid. The Orion Nebula has been called a "picture book of star formation."
