This photograph shows a hearty group of men and women using long picks as they climbed Paradise Glacier in Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington. The group is warmly dressed, although the women are all in skirts as was dictated by the times. The photograph was taken ca. 1916 by Curtis & Miller, the partners Asahel Curtis (younger brother of famed Edward S. Curtis) and Walter Miller. They mainly shot scenic photos such as this one.
