Me Catchem was a member of the Crow tribe. Much importance was placed on the styling of hair at this time in his culture. A mixture of bear grease and perfume was commonly applied to the hair to create fashionable hair styles. The left side of Me Catchem's hair is adorned with streaks of paint. Photographed in 1883 by F. Jay Haynes.
