Del Iron Cloud, Hunkpapa Sioux, was born and raised on the Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota. He is a graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts (Santa Fe) and the American Academy of Art (Chicago). He likes to remember his first "masterpiece," made at age five on his grandmother's kitchen door! He says of his art: "I see myself as a student of my Lakota family, continually searching for and researching information to transpose on canvas."
