This vista was and can still be seen in southern Utah's Zion National Park. First called Mukuntuweap (Zion), it was designated a national monument by President William Howard Taft in 1909 to protect the massive and beautiful canyon. In 1918, it received the highest order of protection and was renamed Zion National Park.
