Once Yellowstone was established in 1872 as the world's first national park, tourists began pouring in. In the 1880s, many families and groups took trains to various points in Idaho and Montana. From there, it was just a long, dusty, bumpy carriage or stagecoach ride to the world of natural wonders in Yellowstone National Park. Photographed ca. 1898 by F. J. Haynes.
