This young Native American girl is wearing a Blackfeet dress and holding a cornhusk doll. By the 1840s, the body of a corn-husk bag was made of native hemp. Cornhusk was dyed and split into strips for use as threads to make the decorative elements of the bag. Photographed ca. 1900.
